Simply Little Gazing

I drove by Little River this morning and thought as I do almost every time I drive by, "That would make a nice picture." Today, I turned around, came back and snapped a few.

It's hard to imagine, looking at the peacefulness in these pictures, that it's located on a busy road, beside the train bridge, across from the water treatment plant.

Truly one of Gloucester's secrets.
There's beauty peeking out everywhere.
Take the time to stop and enjoy it!

A Gloucester man who had a plan. Thanks, Stubby!

Simply Blue Sky!

The weather has turned back to rain for the next day or so. Yet, many are still glowing (perhaps too much sun?) from last weekend's gorgeous weather. Here are a few pictures from Good Harbor Beach on Sunday.

Simply A Weekend!

The evening of the July Gloucester Block Party was a perfect night for a boat ride in the harbor. The seas were flat with just a little bit of wind blowing and only a few boats were out and about.

Someone decided to have an "on-the-water" Block Party! I believe we counted over 8 rafted up to the Voyager.

Simply Surfing Fun!

More pictures from Good Harbor Beach on the first "real summer" weekend of this year.

Surfing Waves

I step in to the water
With my swimsuit on and my surfing board in my hand
I start with a simple paddle
Waiting patiently for the waves to start
Here comes one, a good one to start with
I paddle faster, and this time I am headed towards it
It’s here! I rapidly stand up and am in the tube of water
The tube is starting to fade I have to get out!
The exit is a little far about a meter or two
I get my courage together and head out
Crash! The wave collapse behind me
I head to shore, and lie on the warm sand
A little afterwards I look up and shout
“Here comes another one!”
I rise for the sand and into the water
To have a thrilling ride again

Simply Summer For The Soul

The Ocean
Written by Kathy Bishop

I found a wonderful place for me to be
Down by the ocean, where my spirit's set free
The gentle breeze blowing the mist upon my face
As the waves crash on the rocks all over the place
Foot prints are covered by the incoming tide
As surfers try catching that perfect ride
The smell of the water is so fresh and new
The color changes from green to blue
When the surf is high with peaks so white
And the sun is shining with a glare so bright
As I feel your love I know I'm not alone
And the echos' I hear are calling me home
Home to where you are waiting for me
And together we'll travel down to the sea
The sea where all life truly began
Thanks to the Lord, the Father of man
So whenever you feel the beginning of doubt
Remember the truth of what life's all about
There's no guarantee, you can only pray for the best
Have faith in the Lord, and He'll do the rest

Just five more minutes, please?

The colors of summer.

Simply Fun In The Sun!

July.
Good Harbor Beach.
Summertime.

It's here!

Ocean Song
Written by Karma Wilson

Hot day, high sun.
Watch me swim;
watch me run!
Brown sand, blue sky.
Catch me if you dare try!
Warm wind, salt air.
I am free, without a care.
Smooth shell, ocean song.
Do you hear it?
Dance along!
High waves chasing me;
I wave back--goodbye sea!

Simply Sail Away!

What summers were made for and the memories these young sailors will have many years from now!

Come Sail Away
Performed by Styx
Written by Dennis Deyoung

I'm sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
I've got to be free, free to face the life that's ahead of me
On board, I'm the captain, so climb aboard
We'll search for tomorrow on every shore
And I'll try, oh Lord, I'll try to carry on

I look to the sea, reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy, some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever, so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But we'll try best that we can to carry on

A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise
They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies
Singing come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

Simply Noah or Running Elephant?

Saw this little chipmunk sitting on an old windsurf board. Either Noah was just getting ready for the floods or was dreaming of being the next "Tony Elbow".

Judging by the his chunkiness, I'm guessing he's going the running elephant route.
